For me, massage is not just technique —it is intention, listening, and presence.—

Yuneisa Perera

My Story

My name is Yuneisa Perera Rodríguez, and I am originally from Cuba. I studied Psychology, a field that taught me how to understand the human mind, emotion, and behavior. Yet, in Cuba, working independently as a psychologist was impossible. The system limited both economic and professional growth — low salaries, poor working conditions, and no space for private practice.
I knew I wanted to build something of my own — something that combined my passion for helping others with the freedom to create and grow.

My first steps into the healing arts came through a close family friend — a medical doctor who introduced me to the world of therapeutic massage. He became my first mentor, teaching me the fundamentals of anatomy and healing through touch. Later, I deepened my studies by completing a Diploma in Osteopathy at National Rheumatology Center in Havana, which gave me a holistic view of the body and its natural ability to heal.

Soon after, I joined Eric García, a respected pioneer of therapeutic massage in Havana. Working alongside him was my first professional experience in this field. For three to four years, Eric became both a mentor and a friend — someone who inspired me through his professionalism, discipline, and entrepreneurial spirit.

When Erick left the country, I decided to continue the path we had started. Around that time, I partnered with Manuel, and together we founded Yuma Massage — a name that came from our own initials: Yuneisa and Manuel.

Through Yuma Massage, we began offering personalized sessions at clients’ homes, rental villas, and even on the beach — creating unique wellness experiences that connected body, mind, and environment.
We also expanded our team, training and mentoring new therapists, hosting workshops, and promoting the importance of massage in everyday life. In a country where wellness culture was still developing, our mission was also to educate and inspire a new mindset toward self-care.

After several successful years, we made the difficult decision to move to the United States, seeking greater opportunities for growth and stability. The reality in Cuba —a restrictive economic and political system— made it impossible to expand beyond a certain point.

In the U.S., I continued my professional development, working for a year in a chiropractic clinic, where I gained valuable clinical experience and learned how the wellness industry operates in a professional healthcare environment.
That experience allowed me to qualify and become a Licensed Massage Therapist in Texas in 2022.

Together with Sonu Patel and a local chiropractor, we founded 4Healing Health & Wellness Center in Austin, Texas —a space dedicated to therapeutic massage, chiropractic care, and holistic wellness.
For three years, we worked with a strong focus on deep tissue and therapeutic bodywork, serving a diverse community and helping people restore balance and mobility.

In 2025, the project evolved. The clinic continues its chiropractic services, while I decided to pursue a new direction —one that reflects my personal philosophy and lifestyle. I chose to focus on mobile, intentional, and conscious massage therapy, bringing wellness directly to people’s homes.

At the same time, our work also expanded to the Dominican Republic, where a small wellness space serves mainly tourists, very similar to what I once built in Havana. This has allowed me to continue empowering local therapists and creating opportunities for professional growth.

Today, my journey continues through YuneConnect —a vision that unites everything I’ve learned and everything I aspire to build.
YuneConnect is more than a brand; it’s a philosophy of collaboration and conscious connection —a bridge between therapists, clients, and institutions that share the same purpose: to heal, to grow, and to expand awareness.

For me, massage is not just technique —it is intention, listening, and presence. It’s the language through which I connect with people and help them reconnect with themselves.
And that, ultimately, is what my work has always been about:
healing through connection.
